Knoppix (Ongoing)
This four hour course will teach the on-scene investigator the use of Knoppix for previewing systems in the field. Knoppix is a linux based operating system that is self contained on a single cd rom and free. Knoppix makes no changes to the hard drive that it is examining and allows for the investigator to search for images and text in allocated space. Knoppix also allows the investigator to copy files out to another type of media. Students will receive a Knoppix cd rom and floppy along with a training manual. This course is open to law enforcement only. For further information contact Lt. Chris Mateja at 636-949-7900 x4604.
ImageScan (Ongoing)
This six to eight hour course teaches the on-scene investigator the use of ImageScan for previewing systems to identify images and movie files on suspect computers. ImageScan is provided by the RCFL, contained on a cd rom and is free. The program makes no changes to the hard drive and creates a text report detailing the initial scan. Classes are taught in regions and arrangements can be made by contacting RCCEEG to secure a class.
